We are launching Prenly Events – local events directly in your app and on the web
We’re launching Prenly Events – a new events calendar for newspapers and magazines that brings local events directly into the Prenly app and on the web.
From concerts and flea markets to sports, lectures and family activities, Prenly Events gives readers one place to discover what is happening around them – right where they already read your content.
Organizers can submit their own events, while the publisher stays in control of what gets published. The result is more useful local content, more reasons for readers to return and new opportunities for partnerships and advertising.
Make your publication the place to discover what’s happening locally
For local newspapers in particular, being part of the community goes beyond reporting the news. Readers also want to know what is happening around them: What can I do this weekend? What is happening tonight? What events are coming up nearby?
Prenly Events brings those answers into the publication’s existing digital environment.
Readers can discover events directly in the Prenly app and on the web, search in real time and filter by date, category or location. Events can be explored as a list, grid or map, with all the relevant information – including time, place, price, images and description – gathered on one event page.
No separate events service or reader account is needed.

More reasons for readers to come back
An events calendar has a naturally changing content cycle.
What is happening today is different from what is happening next weekend. New concerts are announced, markets appear, sports events approach and activities are added throughout the week.
That gives readers a reason to return regularly – not only to catch up on the latest news, but also to discover what is happening around them.
For publishers, Prenly Events adds another layer of utility to the existing reader experience and can help make the app and website a more natural part of readers’ everyday lives.
Organizers contribute the content – you stay in control
Building a useful local events calendar should not mean creating another content workload for the newsroom.
With Prenly Events, local organizers can submit events themselves without creating an account. They provide the event information, and submissions are sent to the editorial portal for review.
The newsroom decides what gets published.
Submitted events can be reviewed, approved or rejected before appearing in the calendar, while editors can also create and edit events themselves.
This makes it possible to build a broad local calendar while maintaining editorial control over what appears in your publication.

AI helps turn event information into ready-to-review drafts
Submitting an event should be simple – both for organizers and editorial teams.
Prenly Events can use AI to help turn event information into a structured draft. An organizer can provide information or a link, and the event agent can help identify details such as the title, date and time, location, price, category and image.
The result is a draft ready for review rather than an automatically published event.
The event agent can also help the newsroom discover potential events from other sources, which editors can review before deciding whether to publish them.
The aim is simple: reduce manual administration while keeping people in control of what reaches readers.

Create more from every event
An event does not have to be useful only while it is listed in the calendar.
It can also become a starting point for relevant editorial content before, during and after it happens.
A newspaper might highlight what is happening this weekend, build a guide around an upcoming festival, cover the event while it is taking place and follow up afterwards with photos, results or stories from the community.
For magazines and niche publications, the same principle can be applied to industry events, conferences, exhibitions, lectures or other activities relevant to their audience.
This creates a smart way to use and reuse content around something readers already care about – while strengthening the sense of community around the publication.
From flea markets to industry events
Prenly Events is not limited to one type of publication or event.
Publishers choose the categories that make sense for their audience. A local newspaper might bring together concerts, sports, markets, theatre and family activities, while a specialist magazine could focus on conferences, exhibitions, meetups and events within its particular field.
For example:
- Music & concerts – gigs, festivals and local performances
- Sports – races, matches and other sporting events
- Family & markets – flea markets, fairs and family activities
- Culture & lectures – cinema, theatre, exhibitions and talks
The calendar can therefore reflect the community around the publication – whether that community is defined by a place or a shared interest.
New opportunities for partnerships and advertising
Events also create new commercial opportunities.
The calendar and individual event pages add new digital inventory that can be used for advertising and local partnerships.
Publishers can, for example, build commercial packages around event categories, seasonal guides or relevant local activities.
This means Prenly Events can contribute to both sides of the publishing business: creating more value for readers while opening up new opportunities for advertisers and partners.
Bring events back into print
Prenly Events is designed to connect digital and print rather than treating the calendar as a separate digital product.
Event information collected in the platform can also be used to create a weekly events page for the printed newspaper.
That gives publishers another way to make use of the same content across channels – from the app and website to the printed edition.
Easy for readers. Easy for organizers.
For readers, the experience is designed to be simple.
They can search and filter events, browse by list or map, open an event to see all the details, add it to their phone calendar and share it with someone else.
For organizers, submitting an event does not require an account. An email address is enough to submit an event for review, and published event details can later be updated when needed.
The easier it is for the local community to contribute, the easier it becomes to keep the calendar useful and up to date.
